A dedicated centre for the creative arts within the OffbeatCCU ecosystem, SceneCreate is a learning playground for anybody and everybody who would like to know about the creative arts.

Envisaged with the patronage of some of the best in industry as well as the country, the school covers acting, direction, screenplay, fashion, grooming, music, performing arts and much more.

The institute offers residential as well as day-scholar enrollments and the courses have been modularly structured to suit full-time, part-time as well as one-time learners on their creative journeys.

The mentors

Santu Mukherjee

Santu Mukherjee, an actor of prominence and repute, began his career on the silver screen at an early stage in his life. Acting comes naturally to this actor and that has made him a popular household name. He has worked with many renowned filmmakers such as Tapan Sinha, Tarun Majumdar, Sukhen Das and many more.

sudipta chakraborty

One of the finest actors of her generation, Sudipta Chakraborty was awarded the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her effortless portrayal in Rituparno Ghosh’s Bariwali. Hailing from an acting family, her father Biplab Ketan Chakraborty was a veteran of the stage, and her sister is also an established actor on stage and screen. We look forward to passing on this illustrous legacy to the future generation.

atanu ghosh

Atanu Ghosh, is a National Award winning director and writer, who has carved a niche for himself with cinema that stepped off the beaten path. His exploration of loneliness and memory through films has garnered critical praise in India and abroad. His sixth feature film Mayurakshi was awarded the National Award for Best Picture in 2018. As a director who involves himself deeply in his characters, he is in a unique position to help and guide actors to learn and develop.

kheyeli dastidar

Noted thespian and theatrician Kheyali Dastidar was born into acting. Jochhon Dastidar and Chandra Dastidar, her parents, were the founders of the theatre group Rupantari and subsequently Charbak which she presently helms. Other than introducing the Bengali audience to numerous plays, Jochhon Dastidar pioneered television drama in Bengali. Kheyali Dastidar is a performer with an innate understanding of the craft honed through her experiences on stage and screen. A treat to watch, she knows exactly the woes that befall an aspiring actor and guide them to self-discovery.

Sudheshna Roy

Sudeshna Roy is an important film persona and has her excellence in acting, writing and direction. Before trying her luck in the film industry she was engaged in a career such as entertainment journalism. She has turned out to be a successful actor and a director and is an inspiration for many women who aspire to be like her.
